Tafaga
History of the club:
Taf’aga Outrigger Canoe Club began with just six dedicated guys back in 1998. They made and sold countless lovos until they had fundraised enough money for the purchase of Taf’aga’s first six-man (V6) canoe and that’s how a paddling club was born. Thanks guys!

Ta’faga is a Rotuman club at the origin but members can be (and are) from all over the place! For those not fluent in Rotuman, Ta’faga means “long distance war canoe”. Our V6 canoes have Rotuman and Fijian names: To’a means “giant” and Tekiteki is the flower that you put behind the ear.

Today the club has a men’s and a women’s team and more than 30 members - some more hardcore than others! Everyone is welcome to come and paddle with us, whether they want to take part competitively in regattas and international meets, or if they just want to come along for the sake of health and fitness and the joy of being out on the water, it’s all OK with us.

Taf’aga is based at the Royal Suva Yacht Club (RSYC), where we often enjoy a few beers after training... our club meetings are known to end with a few bowls of grog... it’s all part of having fun, meeting new people and enjoying all aspects of being part of a sports club.
Heart and Soul! TAF’AGA!
